VOLENDAM, MARKEN AND ZAANSE SCHANS

Three historic villages, just north of Amsterdam, each has a charm of its own. Volendam is a Dutch fishing village. The best way to visit Volendam is on foot, walking along De Dijk. The village Marken, with characteristic wooden houses, is a peninsula in the former Zuiderzee. The Zaanse Schans is a museum were you get an impression of life in Holland in the 17th century. Visit the windmills, cheese factory and a tinware factory.
